Practical Magic Scholarship & Bursary Funding Information
We understand that the full course fees may not be accessible to everyone, and with that in mind, we have a limited number of Bursary Funding Spaces for each round of Practical Magic Coach & Facilitation Training.
We have been working behind the scenes to create a Bursary fund for the Practical Magic Coach & Facilitation Training.
This is because,
One, we recognise that there are those of you out there who would love to be on the training and have so much to offer your communities, but the full course fee is just out of reach, even with the extended payment plans.
And two, we have a mission to make this level of training and work way more accessible than it is now for underrepresented communities in the wellbeing and personal development space.
While we deeply value our coaches and their dedication to supporting others through their work and businesses, it's important to acknowledge the systemic privilege, particularly white privilege, that has historically characterised the wellbeing and personal development world. Unfortunately, our training fees may limit access to those who can't afford them, but who have an incredible amount they have to offer their communities.
The limited number of Bursary Funding spaces will be made available to those who are, or would like to be, supporting communities in need, marginalised communities, BIPOC communities, the LGBTQ+ community, disadvantaged children, survivors of domestic abuse, and more.
As we are looking to bring more representation to the Practical Magic community, we will be giving priority to Black and Brown applicants who are looking to bring coaching into their work and community spaces.
We will make three places available when we open enrolment for the next round of training. You will be able to apply via an application form we will share closer to the time. Do make sure you are signed up to the waitlist using the call to action buttons on this webpage.
What funding options are available?
These are based on either 80% of the full training fees, 40% of the full training fees or 20% of full training fees.
These are awarded on a case-by-case application, based on individual circumstances of those applying.
How can I apply for the Practical Magic Coaching Bursary Funding?
When we open the next round of enrolment, we will invite you to apply for funding. You will have a simple application form for you to complete where we will ask you a few, simple questions. Please note that all applications are reviewed and considered with the highest confidentiality and compassion.
You will be asked to share with us what you would like to offer as a result of the training, and which level of funding would suit your circumstances. We do ask that you select a minimum of two funding options.
As there are limited spaces for higher funding opportunities, if you are not selected for that option, we may offer you the next option available.
What happens if I am successful?
You will hear from us within 24 hours of your application, as to whether you have been offered a partially funded place.
What happens if I am offered bursary funding and it's still a stretch?
We will be able to offer a monthly payment plan on the funding place you've been offered.
What happens if I don't meet the criteria you've set out on the application form?
Please do make an application, we will be considering every single application, but please do note that we will be giving preference to those we've set out above and on the application form.
We are coming from the place where we are trying to make the wellbeing and personal development world a more equitable place, so if you believe that what you have to offer is fighting for that cause, let us know how and why!
What happens if I am not successful?
We will let you know if you have not been successful. You are still more than welcome to join the training at the full cost of the course.
An overview of the funding levels:
When you are selected for 20% of funding towards full course fees, you're eligible for 20% discount on the full course fees. This funding option is intended for individuals who can afford their basic necessities but have limited disposable income. When selected for this bursary funding option it may require some sacrifice, but it won't result in significant hardship.
The 40% funding option is intended for individuals who can afford their basic necessities but have limited disposable income. Again, when selected for this bursary funding option it may require some sacrifice, but it won't result in significant hardship.
The 80% funding option is for individuals who struggle to afford their basic necessities. Paying for full cost of the training would still be a significant financial burden for them.
Please take note of the difference between sacrifice and hardship:
If you're considering paying for a class, product, or service, and it would be difficult but not detrimental to do so, then it qualifies as a sacrifice. This might require you to cut back on other expenditures like dining out, buying coffee, or shopping for new clothes, but it won't harm your long-term financial stability. It's a sacrifice made in pursuit of something you feel called to do, and has the ability to positively impact your life and earning potential.
On the other hand, if paying for the class, product, or service would cause harm to your financial stability, like not being able to afford food, rent, or transportation to work, then you're dealing with hardship. Individuals who are experiencing hardship usually qualify for the higher percentage of funding.
We would like to thank those who've shared research into creating sliding scale models based, which is where we've take this information from. For the original article that supports this tiered level of funding, please head to Worts and Cunning http://www.wortsandcunning.com/blog/sliding-scale
How many times can I apply for the bursary funding?
You are welcome to apply for the funding everytime we open enrolment. This doesn't automatically mean you will be successful in receiving a funded place.
If I am offered a funded place, can I transfer it to another time you run the training?
If you are offered a place, you must take the place on the current enrolment open for the training. If you are not able to take the place, then the funded place will be offered to someone else. It will not be made transferable to the next round of training. Y
I have more questions, how can I ask them?
Simply get in touch with us on [email protected] if there's anything here we haven't covered in relation to the funded opportunities. As we will be dealing with applications for the bursary funding places over the next couple of days, if there's anything you need to know that relates to your application, we will get back to you as quickly as possible. If it's outside of the application process, we may take a little longer to respond, so please bear with us.
We are really excited to be opening up the opportunity to bring more voices, faces, and representation into this space, and there's so much for us all to learn from each other to do good things in the world.
This is the magic of heart-led, purpose-driven love warriors doing their work in the world, so let's make that magic happen... Practical Magic.
